April 19, 2019– Mary Greeley News – A cluster of earthquakes shook the Santa Cruz Mountains on Thursday afternoon, according to the USGS.
7 earthquakes happened within about 2 ½ hours. 5 of those earthquakes were within just 6 minutes.
The earthquakes ranged from a M2.8, to a M1.0.
Three people reported feeling the M 2.8 it is about 13 miles WNW of Boulder Creek, CA.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
Thursday, April 18th was the 113th anniversary of the 1906 Great Earthquake.
The San Andreas fault runs through the region. In 1906, the fault produced a magnitude 7.9 earthquake that killed more than 3,000 people and destroyed 28,000 buildings.
