A baby girl born on the floor of a Chick-Fil-A bathroom has been promised free nuggets for life by the chain. Gracelyn Mae Violet Griffin was born at a San Antonio branch of the fast food chain after her mother told Maggie Griffin told husband Robert to stop because she really needed the bathroom. Her birth certificate says ‘Born in Chick-Fil-a” – with franchise owner Ben Stover promising the girl free chicken for life, and a first birthday party in-store.
The restaurant where Gracelyn was born had closed when the Griffins pulled up Tuesday, reports the Sun Herald. But workers let Maggie, who was in active labour, inside to use the bathroom after she banged the door and pleaded with them. Robert went to check on her moments later, only to be told by a manager: ‘She’s in the restroom and she’s screaming.’
Writing on Facebook, Robert continued: ‘o there we were…..my wife and I in a tiny stall in the bathroom, and I could see the top of our little girls head crowning as maggie was straddling the toilet. ‘I told Maggie, “sweetie, we are gonna have to do this right here, right now”.
‘After shouting to the manager to call 911 and to bring any clean towels, ‘Maggie and I started delivering our baby. ‘When she got to the shoulders, I realized the chord was wrapped around her neck TWICE. ‘Didn’t want to alert my wife, so just told her try to relax for a minute and I was somehow able to unwrap the chord from the baby’s neck. ‘With two more strong pushes, and using my shirt for a towel, out came Gracelyn Mae Violet Griffin.’
The Griffins were on speakerphone to first responders throughout, with paramedics arriving around 15 minutes later. Donald Trump supporter Robert says he was delighted to be able to wrap his daughter in his ‘Trump 2020’ t-shirt moments after she emerged. The ‘proud conservative, Christian’ father says he is also proud that Gracie was born in Chick-Fil-A, which closes on Sundays at the behest of its Christian CEO Dan Cathy.
