Police: Teens Murdered Grandparents And Hung Out With The Bodies For A Week

Gruesome details emerged Wednesday in the case of Georgia teen Cassie Bjorge and her boyfriend Johnny Rider, who are accused of murdering the girl’s grandparents and planning to kill several other family members.

Police: Teens Murdered Grandparents And Hung Out With The Bodies For A Week

Bjorge, 17, confessed that she and Rider, 19, killed Wendy and Randall Bjorge by beating the couple with a hammer, tire iron and a baseball bat. They finished the grisly job by cutting their throats with butcher knives, a police detective testified in court, according to WSB2 Atlanta.

“Johnny began to attack the grandfather. Bjorge then said she had a surge of energy,” Gwinnett County Homicide Detective Dave Brucz said. “She then dragged her grandmother into her grandfather’s bedroom. She was duct taped.”

Bjorge and Rider stayed in the home for days after the killings, smoking pot and partying with friends as the bodies decomposed upstairs a few feet away, police say.

The teens used caulk to seal two interior doors and the front door of the house in order to prevent the smell of death from wafting out of the bedroom. Their friends had no idea what had happened, and the teens were able to avoid suspicion by pretending the grandparents were still alive.

“She [Cassie Bjorge] admitted after the murder she was texting family members because they were worried about them, and she was pretending to be Wendy,” Brucz testified.

Investigators said Bjorge and Rider weren’t satisfied with allegedly killing her grandparents. The duo also made plans to murder Bjorge’s mother, Amanda Sterling, as well as Rider’s sister and her boyfriend.

Police say Rider immobilized his sister and her boyfriend with pepper spray after a confrontation in the sister’s room Saturday. Rider allegedly began beating the boyfriend with a bat while Bjorge attacked Rider’s sister. The couple managed to escape, and Bjorge and Rider fled the scene.

The escape led to the capture of Bjorge and Rider more than a week after the murders. A Gwinnett County SWAT team tracked down and arrested the teens, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Police say that although Bjorge has confessed, Rider has remained silent about any role he may have played in the killings.
